Start with the person, not the position
A layoff can leave a silence that a job title used to fill. RG Mo spent twelve years in global cybersecurity leadership. In 2026, an ordinary meeting became a sudden layoff. It took seven minutes to revoke his access. The laptop, email, and badge were gone while he was still on the call.
His story is not a formula for yours. It is an account of shock, anger, and the question of who a person is without a title. Faith and family helped him find his footing. So did the places outside the company that were still part of his life. He now opens selected homes through the Laid-Off Pass.
Make room for an honest pause
You do not need a polished account of what happened to apply. The application asks where you are now, when you were laid off, and why you want to try a slower life. A video of about sixty seconds is part of that application. It is an invitation to speak as a person, not to deliver another performance.
This site does not offer employment, financial, legal, or mental-health advice. It does not promise a job or an answer to your next chapter. A quieter week is the offer. Whether that fits your circumstances is something to consider without treating a stay as a solution to everything that changed.
Understand the invitation before you travel
US residents aged eighteen or older who were laid off within the last twelve months may apply. All industries are welcome. Selected guests receive seven consecutive nights in Comanche, Texas; Durrës, Albania; or Yunnan, China. One free week is offered each month across the network, not at every home.
Utilities and Wi-Fi are included. Yunnan includes three meals a day. You cover travel and other food, along with any passports, visas, insurance, and personal expenses. Applications are reviewed weekly, but a stay and a response date are not guaranteed. Wait for written confirmation before arranging travel. Selected guests make a sixty-second diary, shared only with separate written permission.
Read RG Mo’s story, explore the homes, and check the Free Stay Rules before applying. Our Privacy Policy explains how application information and videos are handled.
